1. Austria
You can head to Austria just to look at the handcrafted Christmas decorations that are put up all over the place and are for sale in the markets. The advent wreaths are hand woven and are very elaborate, competing with it are the nativity setting and displays around the country. If you head to Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart, you will be serenaded with a lot of classical music concerts, Christmas carols and markets filled with pastries, candied fruits and nuts. Vienna also boasts of one of the oldest Christmas markets in the whole of Europe. If you want a traditional, classic Christmas, then Austria is the place to be.
2. London
Charles Dickens was inspired to write his famous novel, A Christmas Carol, after celebrating Christmas in London. London looks truly spectacular with its streets lighted up and thousands of people on the street shopping, eating out or just looking at the lights. Also if you are in London, you should never miss the Christmas pudding and the ice rinks that pop out below some of the most famous building in the city.
3. Rome
There is no better time to visit Rome than during Christmas. You can get to see the pope in the Vatican delivering his Christmas message and enter a magical religious experience with the millions of people from around the world who have gathered for Christmas mass. Be sure to grab some tickets early so you do not miss out on this when you are in Rome.
4. New York
If you do not want to leave the country, then New York is the place to be and the city’s most famous landward, The Rockefeller center gets a complete Christmas makeover with thousands of lights. You can also walk down Fifth Avenue looking at the festive decorations in the shops or head to the world’s largest department store Macy’s to enter Santa’s magical world.
