The Biggest Mistakes of a Proposal Idea
It is hard to know how to propose, but there are certain mistakes that a man should definitely avoid when it comes to the perfect proposal idea.
While no man really knows what women want and every woman has different tastes and style, there are certain mistakes every man should take the effort to avoid when it comes to contemplating the perfect proposal idea.
Proposing Empty-Handed
In several recent surveys ‘proposing with no ring’ was ranked number one as the biggest mistake a proposal idea could include. In a perfect world, the woman you hope to make your wife would place a higher importance on your declaration of love and commitment, but for most women, an engagement won’t seem real without a ring. Plus, when she calls up or goes to visit her family and friends, the first question will be ‘what is the ring like?’ Even if you’re not confident enough to pick out the ring by yourself, you can always take along a relative or a friend. A lot of women also report being taken ring shopping in advance of the proposal.
Proposing in Front of an Audience
Unless you have a girlfriend who absolutely adores being the centre of attention, then a proposal idea that involves a crowd is usually a bad idea. It is far more likely a woman would prefer something more private and intimate – just between the two of you. Proposing in public is definitely one of the biggest blunders an aspiring fiance can make, as it can sometimes lead to feelings such as nervousness and anxiety. These are not the emotions you want your proposal to inspire. Plus you may want to continue the romantic mood if she says yes, which may be quite difficult if lots of people are coming up to congratulate you.
Not Waiting for the Right Moment
Once you’ve got the ring, it is natural to want to propose as soon as possible and get that ‘yes’ answer, hopefully, you’ve been dreaming of. However, waiting for the perfect moment is one of the most important aspects of a good proposal idea. You do not want to propose if she’s having some problems at work or just got home from the gym. Remember, this is going to be a story that she will tell all her friends, family and future children, so you want it to be good.
Letting it out of the Bag
Every soon-to-be-bride wants her proposal to be a surprise. Even if she knows you’re going to propose, knows what ring she’s getting
, you can still make the actual night a surprise. This means not blurting out all your plans to a friend or a family member who cannot be trusted to keep it a secret. You certainly don’t want to rob your girlfriend of the joy of being able to surprise all her friends and family with the news.
