Her career began in 2006, when she was just 17 years old, with her debut album ‘Taylor Swift’. Her second album ‘Fearless’, launched in 2008 was a worldwide hit, making Swift one of the top female singers in the music industry.

1. You Belong With Me

It’s said that the idea for this song came to Swift when she overheard a male friend of hers fighting with his girlfriend over the phone. The song won the ‘Best Female Video’ at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009, and was nominated at the Grammy in 2010 for three categories, ‘Record of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Best Female Pop Vocal Performance’. The album ‘Fearless’ won the ‘Album of the Year’, and the ‘Best country Album’ at the Grammy’s the same year.

This one had girls going crazy over it all over the world. A lead single from the album ‘Fearless’, it was nominated for the ‘Favorite Country Song’ at the People’s Choice Awards in 2009 and also the ‘Video of the Year’ at Academy of Country Music Awards. At the BMI Country Awards, it won the ‘Song of the Year’.

3. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

This was the first single from the hit album ‘Red’ and was quite popular within just two weeks of its release. ‘Red’ won the ‘Top Selling Album’ award at the Canadian Country Music Association with a nomination for ‘Album of the Year’ in Country Music Association Awards as well as the Grammys. The song was nominated for ‘Record of the Year’ at the Grammys, and was the ‘Fastest Selling Single in Digital History’ at the Guinness World Records.

4. I Knew You Were Trouble

It was released as a promotional song from the album ‘Red’ and had quickly reached the #3 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Like most of Swift’s songs, this one too had interesting lyrics that were loved by the listeners. It won the ‘Best Female Video’ at the MTV Video Music Awards and was also nominated there for ‘Video of the Year’. It won the ‘Song of the Year’ at the Radio Disney Music Awards.

5. Shake It Off

Taylor Swift was often criticized of being limited only to country music, and she broke that notion with the release of ‘Shake it Off’, a daring and interesting pop number with a vey catchy video. It has been nominated for the ‘Record of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’ and the ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’ at the Grammy’s this year. And it won the ‘Favorite Song’ at the People’s Choice Awards.

6. Mine

This song was released two weeks prior to the planned date, after an incident of an unauthorized song leak happened on the Internet. It was nominated for ‘Choice Love Song’ at the Teen Choice Awards and for the ‘Most Watched Video of the Year’ at the MuchMusic Video Awards. At the CMT Music Awards, it won the ‘Video of the Year’. It was also nominated for the ‘Top Country Song’ at the Billboard Music Awards. The lyrics of this song were inspired from Swift’s personal life.

This was written by Swift for a talent show in high school, and has really touching and sweet lyrics. It was the #1 country hit for her, and even touched the 16th rank on Billboard Hot 100.
