6 Dieting Mistakes to Never Commit

Dieting is a common thread that binds women across all ages, races and cultures. Whether you live in the USA or UAE, dieting is something you must have tried and been successful at or failed. The fixation that women have with their bodies, leads them to use cosmetics and diet. If you are feeling that your diet is never showing result, it could be because of any of these 6 mistakes you may be committing.

1. Crash dieting

Keep in mind that dieting ought to be a commitment to your body forever. You can’t just set a time period to lose weight fast, depriving yourself of all cravings, and then after that go back to your previous sway of eating. That’s what crash diets are. They work only for wedding days when the bride wants to look her best or for actors who need to shoot a particular portion with a certain body frame. If you want to get fit permanently, you need to diet rationally.

2. Not indulging in cravings once a while

What many women end up doing is, let themselves go on weekends after dieting for the whole week. There should be a balance because your body needs to be stable in order to lose weight. You should maintain healthy eating at all times and make it a part of your life. At the same time, you could give in to a craving, say French fries or a pastry, once in 2 days. Otherwise you will end up feeling irritated, frustrated, disinterested and low on energy.

3. Skipping meals

Starving yourself and going on fasts or detox diets is a very unhealthy way to lose weight. One looks weak and famished and also gains back the weight, just as quickly as they had lost it. A proper diet means there should be constant efforts to increase the metabolism of the body. Hence you should either have the standard 4 meals a day or have small meals throughout the day every 2-3 hours.

4. Having ready made foods as opposed to organic ones

Instead of eating ready made meals such as energy bars, restaurant salads, diet chips and diet colas, which actually have many hidden calories, you should have more of organic and raw or boiled vegetables. Veggies and fruits should form almost 80% of your diet. The more natural your diet is, the more you are nearer to your goal of fitness.

5. Indulging in a lot of liquids

A popular misconception that people on diet have is that eating leads to weight gain while drinking doesn’t. Beverages with whole milk and sugar, protein shakes, iced teas, milkshakes and alcoholic drinks are hardly ever taken into account while dieting. These drinks contain a lot of calories which may be adding to your total calorie consumption and getting in the way of weight loss.

6. Not exercising

Dieting alone is not the solution for weight loss and fitness. You need exercise to supplement the diet and only then will the results show on your body. In fact, exercising makes you crave less for unhealthy foods and motivates you to eat healthy.
