2. Watch what you eat

Christmas time is a time to splurge as well as indulge all your senses. But, just keep a check on what you are eating and how many calories you consume. A handful of Macadamia nuts and Brazil nuts have 23g and 24g fats respectively, while a tablespoon of sour cream contains 7g fats. So, you should always keep in mind what and how much you are eating.

3. Have a workout schedule

The term ‘holiday season’ doesn’t apply to your workout sessions. Keep a definite workout schedule even before Thanksgiving and continue it throughout the festive season. After all, this is the time you consume the most calories and you definitely need to burn them.

4. Avoid ‘white’ foods

White foods consist of white potatoes, white rice and all white flour products. These foods have the ability to increase your appetite. Thus, it’s best to avoid them to reduce the chances of eating more.

5. Have plenty of whole grains and beans

Sweet drinks include anything from soda to fruit juices and drinks to caloric mixers. These increase your appetite and provide no bulk in the gastrointestinal tract which acts as an appetite suppressant. Drink water as frequently as possible as it eliminates body waste and helps in giving you a sense of fullness.

7. Include veggies and fruits

Veggies and fruits are always a healthy, nutritious and calorie-free option. Stack your plate with helpings of veggies at holiday parties instead of going for fatty foods.

8. Eat something before you go to a party

Nibble on a light snack before you leave for a party. You can eat a handful of almonds or a slice of bread with peanut butter. This way you will feel full and will control on your fatty food intake at the party.

9. Reduce alcohol intake

Alcohol contains innumerable calories. So even if you decide to have 3 extra large glasses of wine, that will spell out trouble for you. For many, having too much alcohol the night before leads to more hunger pangs and cravings for junk food in the morning.
